Notes

Using the model BIOME3China. Under conditions of 550ppmv the vegetation on the Tibetan plateau was modelled and there is a reduction in the temperate desert, alpine steppe, desert and ice/polar desert. There would be an increase cold-temperate conifer forest, temperate shrubland/meadow and temperate steppe. All vegetation zones would exhibit a northwestward shift. NPP of biomes would increase, although the accuracy of this data is problematic. Shifts in permafrost zones will accelerate desertification rates.
